• The Gonzales-Byass Palmas range shows a slice through the solera system, from relatively young Fino to 4-decades old Amontillado, making for a truly amazing vertical tasting.
• The VOS & VORS sherries from Tradicion, Gutierrez Colosia and Fernando de Castilla come in Amontillado, Oloroso and Palo Cortado bottles. A lesser known detail: VORS stands for Vinum Optimum Rare Signatum (Latin: Wine Selected as Optimal and Exceptional) not Very Old Rare Sherry, but given the age of the bottles one might be forgiven to mix this up.
• The gem in the collection is the 1946 Don PX Convento Seleccion from Toro Albala, a 100-Parker point rarity - In his 2013 review it was rated 'early' (!!!), described as 'This wine will survive all of us', and wrapped up with 'Drink it if you ever have the privilege to do so from 2013-2060'.
